At Ace of Spays, we believe in providing more than just veterinary care. Our dedicated team of veterinarians and staff are trained to handle euthanasia with the utmost care, respect, and empathy. We prioritize your pet’s comfort and dignity during this sensitive time, ensuring that the procedure is as painless and stress-free as possible.
Three appointment choices to best meet your family’s needs
Many clients struggle to make the overwhelming decision to help a pet transition. Common questions are: Is there anything else that can be done? Is my pet suffering? When should euthanasia be considered? Other clients are pretty sure the time has come and just want a veterinarian to take a look to see if they agree. And still, others are sure it is time and prefer a quiet appointment for euthanasia alone.
For clients with many questions and/or a pet with an involved medical history, we offer a 40-60 minute consultation. Our quality-of-life consultations are designed to help you make informed decisions about your pet’s well-being. Our experienced veterinarians will assess your pet’s physical and emotional health, considering factors such as pain management, mobility, appetite, and overall happiness. We will provide you with a comprehensive evaluation and compassionate guidance to help you determine the best course of action for you and your pet. If you decide during this appointment that the time is right for your pet to transition, our caring support staff will be ready to facilitate your pet’s journey.
For clients who are pretty sure it is time but need some reassurance, we offer a 20-minute veterinary visit. Again, if you deem the time is right during this discussion, our team will be ready to assist.
For those clients who are confident of the timing and do not wish to see the veterinarian, we offer stand-alone veterinary assistant appointments.
Regardless of the appointment you choose, you are more than welcome to change your mind at any time.
A smooth, peaceful process to ease your mind
We encourage clients to be present for as much of the process as they can handle, but we understand that some may not be able to stay. In those cases, you can rest assured that we will act as your surrogate, providing comfort to your pet throughout the procedure.
For those who choose to stay, you will find yourself in a comfortable room with a soft towel or blanket for your pet. You will be asked to complete the necessary paperwork and payment before the procedure, allowing you to leave peacefully when the time comes. When you are ready, your pet will receive an anesthetic injection to ensure they are resting peacefully. This injection has a rapid onset, and you may choose to spend some time with your pet before the euthanasia solution is administered. When you indicate that you are ready, we will give the euthanasia solution, and your pet will pass away gently within minutes.
Aftercare options for your personal wishes
For private cremations, pets are cremated in their own chamber, allowing for the return of their ashes. We offer this service with a complimentary wooden box that includes a lock and nameplate. Additional urn options are available through our crematory, Hamilton Pet Meadow.
For group cremations, ashes are scattered at the crematorium’s memorial park.
Alternatively, some clients make their own arrangements for the care of their pet’s body in accordance with state and local laws. In these cases, we gently wrap the pet to go home. At your request, we can also provide a paper paw print.
Clients utilizing our crematory partner can also purchase keepsakes, such as jewelry, framed paw prints, and blankets directly through the crematory. We simply need your selections prior to the conclusion of your appointment with us.
