Who Does the Surgery?
Every pet that comes through our door has surgery by a highly experienced spay/neuter veterinarian. We do not train vets or students. Safety and Comfort are paramount at Ace of Spays.
Who Handles Post-Operative Care?
Post operative problems are rare but they are handled promptly by Ace of Spays. If any of our differentials include non-surgically related items, we will refer your client back to your practice for a workup. We offer clients complimentary exams for post operative concerns. We are here to help.
Who Handles Pre-Operative Exams and Bloodwork?
We recommend clients have their pet examined by their primary care veterinarian and get bloodwork within 2-3 months of surgery. We request to see records and bloodwork on pets over 5 years of age or any pets with medical conditions. Though we recommend this care be performed by the primary care practice, we do offer limited appointments for this care for clients without a primary care practice. We do not offer any such services for pets who are not coming to us for spay/neuter care.
Will You Take Business Away From My Practice?
No. Our only mission is to help pet lovers by optimizing spay/neuter care. We are not a primary care facility and we do not offer wellness clinics nor vaccine clinics. We are strong believers in the primary care practice (which we are not) as the best place for lifelong pet care. There the Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship flourishes for the optimal well being of each pet. We recommend pets be up to date on vaccines prior to spay/neuter visits. During the clinic, as a convenience for clients, we offer testing and vaccines. This care is not offered at any other time. In order to assist the rare client without a primary care veterinarian, we offer end of life services. This is a miniscule part of our practice. Our sister organization, Pathways to Wellness, offers acupuncture, chiropractic and Chinese Herbs – nothing more.
Will You Spay and Neuter Pets With Pre-Existing Conditions?
We exist for healthy pets but do our best to accommodate clients and practices when we feel the surgery is safe. We require records and bloodwork for our vets to make the determination as to whether they will do the surgery.
Do You Do Pyometra Surgery?
Yes. But the pet has to be stable and the surgery has to fit into our schedule. We do not do surgery every day of the week. Medical records are required for our veterinarians to determine whether they will do the surgery.
Do You Spay/Neuter Rabbits?
No, sorry.
Are Medical Records Required?
If a pet is coming for surgery with pre-existing concerns, we will reach out for medical records.
